Seasonal fungi

Seasonal fungi

IMG_1204Brilliant colours on two fungi we’ve seen recently, the purple one a month ago, and the flower-shaped yellow one two dayIMG_1220s ago.

The velvety purple fungus was on rotting wood by the track at the bottom of the Vallon.

The delicate petals of the yellow one was on dead wood among stones and grass between the olive trees on les Murs. It is probably a form of Tremella mesenterica which includes such wonderful common names as the yellow brain, the golden jelly fungus, the yellow trembler, and witches’ butter.
