Olives en Provence

‘Le Domaine des Escavalins’ produces its own Extra Virgin olive oil. Our olive varieties are all local & Provençal. We harvest in early autumn when the fruit is just right and press the olives the same day, in our own Olive Mill. And we produce delicious fruité vert “cold press” Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

This typical Provençal bastide lies 4 kms from the village of Belgentier in secluded calm only 24kms from lovely Mediterranean beaches and the Cote d’Azur. Behind the house is a dramatic circle of cliffs, a unique setting in a Provencal forest: pines, green oak, juniper, rosemary, thyme, and masses of wild flowers. In spring and early summer there are carpets of purple thyme, yellow oxalis, euphorbias, pink cistus, asters, tufts of bright blue aphyllanthus and several varieties of orchids. Here is a haven for all types of wildlife: boar, marten, fallow deer, eagles, grand duc owls, insects, and butterflies. Many of them are rare and on endangered lists.
