Ed saw a second wild tortoise (Hermann’s Tortoise, Testudo Hermanni) on his way up to the cave, on the path. On the way back down again, an hour later, Ed found the little tortoise had moved about 60 metres.
This one, right, is the same species as the one Gerry saw on 30 March, see below, and about 1,600 metres away from the first. One can’t help wondering if they get together at all!
This is the first year we’ve seen any, only because they were near or on tracks, but it’s nice to know there are several around us in the woods.
